Two charged with conspiracy

July 22, 2014
One person faces attempted murder charges and two others face conspiracy charges in connection with a shooting Tuesday night that sent one person to the hospital.

Junction City police were dispatched to the area of 440 W. Sixth St. at approximately 8:36 p.m. Tuesday for a report of shots fired. Once arriving, they discovered shots had been exchanged, and all parties had left the area.

Shortly thereafter, police learned a subject had arrived at Geary County Hospital advising he had been shot.

The subject, whose name was not released, had suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, was treated and released.

Police later located parties involved with the incident, and arrested Robbie Dewayne Fountain Jr., 21, of Junction City, and charged him with attempted murder.

Later Wednesday, Jefferson James, 34, and a 17-year-old juvenile, both of Junction City, were arrested and charged with conspiracy in connection with the incident.

A 2011 Infiniti vehicle and a handgun also were seized, police reported Wednesday.

Fountain currently is at the Geary County Detention Center without bail, pending his first appearance at the Geary County District Court. Bail information on James and the juvenile was not released.

Junction City police are continuing to investigate the incident.
